CC Hennix + The Chora(s)san Time-Court Mirage
[ENG] Artistic heirs of La Monte Young. Hennix’ work The Electric Harpsichord, composed and enacted in the mid-seventies, was not published on CD until 2010 and turned out to be an unrecognised masterpiece. Her complete works prove to be a continuous composition, thus her performance in SMART fits perfectly in the whole. Hennix is accompanied by topmusicians such as trumpeter Franz Hautzinger and trombonist Hilary Jeffery.
[originally in NL] Artistieke erfgename van La Monte Young. Haar halverwege de jaren zeventig gecomponeerde en uitgevoerde stuk The Electric Harpsichord verscheen pas in 2010 op cd en bleek een onherkende
meesterwerk. Haar oeuvre blijkt een continue compositie en dus sluit haar stuk in SMART hier naadloos bij aan. In haar ensemble onbetwiste topmusici als trompettist Franz Hautzinger en trombonist Hilary Jeffery.

Joel Ryan & Agustí Fernandez
[ENG] He did it with saxophonist Evan Parker, with cellist Frances Marie Uitti, with saxophonist Keir Neuringer, and with plenty of others. At Sonic Acts, Joel Ryan warps Agustí Fernandez’ piano play in real time with his electronics. A piano is no longer a piano, but an ensemble. No gimmick. No trick. A permanent dialogue between two who both struggle for absolute control of the all-around sound. That makes it exciting.

Een permanente dialoog die beiden geen honderd procent controle hebben over het totaalgeluid, maar dat wel zouden willen. Dat maakt het spannend.
